MEX ICE BATH THERMOMETER
The MEX ICE bath thermometer was designed as an aid in winter swimming to promote safety. It has a LED display that shows the ambient temperature at the top while the time is shown below. In energy-saving mode, the display only shows the current time. Placed in water, the device floats, while being very stable, which is what we inteneded for. Of course, minor temperature oscillations are a natural phenomenon, and are caused, for example, by changing outside temperatures or the influence of the body temperature of the person taking the bath.
The latest research suggests that the safety threshold for the length of cold baths is 10 minutes, although other external factors (such as water temperature, air temperature, wind speed and the time needed to ensure thermal comfort) and internal factors (such as the bather's disposition on a given day, their level of fatigue or energy balance from food) should also be taken into account. The MEX ICE bath thermometer not only measures water temperature (when placed in it) but it is also equipped with a timer function, thanks to which you can set the appropriate safe bathing time limit for yourself. The timer can also be useful when swimming in relays or when swimming is combined with sauna sessions. Controlling the water temperature is crucial during winter swimming competitions and when trying to set a record, including one in the Guinness World Records category.
The MEX ICE bath thermometer features a revolutionary solution that allows you to control water temperature by setting the upper and lower temperature limits. When the water temperature exceeds the set upper limit, the indicator diode will start flashing red and an audible alarm will sound, while when it drops below the set lower limit, the indicator diode will start flashing green. This is an excellent solution if you are planning a warm bath that is supposed to be neither too hot nor too cold. A bath at a constant temperature of 40°C is recommended, for example, when hypothermia is suspected. On the other hand, if you are swimming in an ice bath tub and you want the water temperature not to exceed, for example, 5°C, you can set the upper temperature limit. When the red light comes on and the alarm goes off, it means that you should lower the water temperature using a cooling unit or by adding some ice. Additionally, if you have set up an ice bath in the garden with a cooling unit that has a water heating option, you can set the lower temperature limit, e.g. 5°C, and the device will notify you, thus helping to prevent water from freezing in winter.
IMPORTANT: The MEX ICE bath thermometer is not a medical device. When planning to break the record for the length of a cold water bath, contact the appropriate organization to determine the required conditions, including requirements for measuring devices. It is also important to remember to provide all safety measures.
The MEX ICE bath thermometer will certainly be popular with summer bathing enthusiasts, especially in their own garden swimming pools. It is a typical pool thermometer with an additional option to control the swimming time. The thermometer is characterized by reliability and accuracy of measurements, and its casing, made of an environmentally friendly material, is durable and waterproof.
Although its name suggests measuring the temperature of bath water, MEX ICE bath thermometer can be used for almost any purpose, due to its wide temperature range, i.e. from -20 to 70°C (-4 to 158°F). So the device can also measure the temperature outside and inside the room. Remember to place the thermometer on a neutral surface that will not cause the temperature to rise or drop (holding the thermometer in your hands changes its readings). The timer function can be used when cooking or doing other activities that require time control. The thermometer also works well as a temperature indicator in the freezer or sauna (up to 70°C, so it is rather recommended for infrared saunas). Smartwatches, on the other hand, are not suitable for measuring negative temperatures or temperatures above 40°C, and frozen hands or hands insulated with neoprene foam additionally limit their use.
NOTE: The MEX ICE waterproof digital floating thermometer for measuring water temperature with a timer function intended for ice baths was designed by the MEX brand in 2022, and the inspection department approved its launch in 2023. We have obtained a CE certificate of conformity for the device, which finally allowed us to introduce it to the market at the end of 2024. In the meantime, the product has been copied and cheap Chinese imitations have appeared that do not provide the declared quality or waterproofness. To be sure you have a product of good quality, and to be able to return or exchange it, you should make a purchase using only legal sources.
